Retrofiting the NAV is do-able but very difficult. King has done it. You have to completely rip the interior. It also costs around $4000.

Doable? yes.
Easy? no.

See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=58 for an idea of what's involved.

Ohhh geez -thats not what I was hoping for - In my porsche 996 Turbo the nav was a simple plug and play and a gps antena - may have to think twice now about the truck darn

Thought you were going to get regardless? It is a great truck! If you are getting good deal on it, you may want to think about going after market on the nav and enjoy the top-of-the-line X5 at a great price. Think twice before passing up.

Think about it!!! Any aftermarket system can provide you with what you need. Pioneer has an amazing double-din system with nav and all kinds of other goodies it'll fit like stock but you got dvd, mp3...... and so on.

Dude, sorry and I don't meant to be disrespectful so don't take this the wrong way, but would you let go a good car for not having nav rather than getting an OK car for having nav? with all the aftermarket nav systems out there, even portable $500 ones that are the size of a palm pilot personally I would not let a good car at a good price go. You also have those papers with lines all over called maps, cheap and easy to use. Just my $0.02

Dude no kidding. Nav is not that great. Sure it looks cool but you really don't need it. Chances are if you did you would not know how to use it. BMW nav systems are very complicated to work with. Buy the car.

I would buy an aftermarket portable NAV, like the Garmin StreetPilot. I can use it in any car and its better than OEM, IMO (touchscreen, many more points-of-interests, etc).

Personally, I wouldn't spend money for any OEM NAV until they are fully integrated with real time traffic reports. I think Acura has this and a few big cities provide the traffic updates.
