OEM has more standing room. If that is your main focus then OEM might be better if that is ur primary reason for buying and u dont mind the price higher. these boards are about the same size as the current running boards (if u can call them that - the black part) - just add a little style to it. I believe in the other thread someome mentions that the OE boards are wider. I've also read that the OE boards come out as far as your mirrors when they are folded (folding mirror thread somewhere). so probably a few inches more on OE

Whichever ones I end up getting I'm going to be standing on them while they're covered in snow to access the roof rack and it would be great to see how much more standing surface the OEM boards provide, now that we know both versions can support one's body weight.

Thanks!

Install is very easy....I did mine myself....however I would recommend that you get someone to help you to hold the boards in place so that you can put in the screws or plastic push rivets. At first I used the black screws the boards came with for the top portion, however, I quickly realized they are not stainless as they began to rust and stain the boards. I replaced the screws with the plastic push rivets described in the thread below (take a minute and read through the entire thread) and they have worked out great. For the side, I went to the local marine store and purchased stainless steel screws (2 for each board). The plastic rivets are the best way to go.

By the way, for those of you wondering about how pronounced the "X5" logo is....you have to really look for it to realize it's there. Certainly when I show pics of the boards on the "X5" spot you see it, but when you look at the vehicle overall, the boards blend in really nicely. Good Luck!!

Not for E70 yet

For the E70 owners that have been following this thread, the "Bavarian Motorwerks" seller on eBay says they do not have the E70 version yet but do plan to manufacture it.
