these are old news. you can't stand on these things. buy oem, its better period. $550 for oem set including arches and pay somebody at local auto shop to put them on $80 max.

there is a user on this board that has them, they do look good - he has pics etc. I'm going to get them as well. It isn't as complicated as OEM install, and I actually like the look, doesnt stick out as far as OEM, that didnt matter to me but price is good and the "X5" logo is cool add.. def next on my list for mod, he quoted me 390 as well.

i think the user mentioned he can stand on them, they cover his original running boards, which you can stand on. so why not these.

I bought the ones from Ebay with the "X5" logo on them. I saw them on an old X5 World thread and emailed the Ebay seller since they were not listed on Ebay at the time and he had them in stock. Installation took about 30 minutes. Once installed properly, they are solid and can be stood on to access the roof area. In my opinion, they look awesome and are far less expensive and complicated than the OEM part. I would definitely recommend!

any pics of the OEM running boards? it would be nice to compare -

- now that we have nice clear picks of the aftermarket boards from eBay with the X5 logo on 'em.

Whichever ones I end up getting I'm going to be standing on them while they're covered in snow to access the roof rack and it would be great to see how much more standing surface the OEM boards provide, now that we know both versions can support one's body weight.

Thanks!

Install is very easy....I did mine myself....however I would recommend that you get someone to help you to hold the boards in place so that you can put in the screws or plastic push rivets. At first I used the black screws the boards came with for the top portion, however, I quickly realized they are not stainless as they began to rust and stain the boards. I replaced the screws with the plastic push rivets described in the thread below (take a minute and read through the entire thread) and they have worked out great. For the side, I went to the local marine store and purchased stainless steel screws (2 for each board). The plastic rivets are the best way to go.

By the way, for those of you wondering about how pronounced the "X5" logo is....you have to really look for it to realize it's there. Certainly when I show pics of the boards on the "X5" spot you see it, but when you look at the vehicle overall, the boards blend in really nicely. Good Luck!!
