Smile Installed style 87s in 19" today !!

I took advantage of the free shipping special from lakeshore wheel and tires and got 19" replicas with Pirelli Scorpion Zero mounted. $1700 shipped to my door seemed like a good deal. They got here in a week.

I'm very happy with the quality. I could find no blemishes, good finish throughout. Packing was good and each wheel came with an individual hunter force balancing report. Wheel caps were included that are sort of cheap, but not much cheaper than the factory BMW. Some nice metal and enamel ones would be cool. Anyhow, I highly recommend Lakeshore Wheels from this experience.

Putting them on was a pain since the original wheels would not come off, see my other thread. Finally gave up and had the gas station do it.

Also, I thought folks would be interested, I weighed them on my bath room scale. The original wheel (17") + tires was 53lbs. The new wheels + tires were 66lbs front and 69lbs rear in 19". Not as bad as I thought. Does anybody know how much wheels + OEM 19" style 132's weigh as a comparison?

Here are the pics:

I have two sets of wheels from Lakeshore, 20" 87's and 19" 63's (snows). They're great!

I weighted my OEM 17s (type 130 with Michelin tires, same as yours) on my bathroom scale a few years ago and it was 60lbs. So, I guessed our scales are off by 7lbs. Anyways, my OEM 19s (type 132 with Bridgestone tires) weight 70lbs and 72lbs, front and rear, respectively on that same scale. For comparisons, if we add 7lbs to your measurements (using the 17" type 130 as our baseline calibration reference), it would make your wheels/tires combo to be 73lbs and 76lbs, which isn't too bad as it's not too far off from the OEM type 132s.

In 19s, however, I would have to say that I preferred the 132s over the 87s. The 132s are a bit more "chunky" and "beefy", whereas, the 87s seems a bit "wimpy" in 19s. But in any case, those 87s sure look heck of alot better than the original 130s.

20"s would have been closer to 2K with the same tires so not much more. But, I wanted the extra bit of protection from a bigger sidewall. We have monster pot holes in DC and I commute 40 miles each way, so did not want to sacrifice ride too much...

Dude, if what you say is true, then I weigh 7lbs more than I thought I did DOH...

Seriously, interesting info. I like the 132s in 19" a lot as well. Both look really good to me.

Good choice dude. I plan to buy 20" OEM Style 87. I am currently using 19" HARTGE replicas with matching Toyo Proxes tires.

Blueagle, where did you get the Hartge reps from? I am running Hartge Classics on my Z...would not mind a matching set on the X...not really wanting to spend $4K though.
