On the hinge side of the door is a wire harness covered in a rubber sleeve. On the end that meets the body it terminates in a knob looking thing...if you pinch it and pull you will see that it is actually a socket with a bunch of wires connections. Check to see this is plugged in fully, or try and clean it out with electrical contact cleaner and reseat it.
this is a much older model BMW, but you get the picture...

If connections good, your door module/window switch may be bad. Have you checked your fuses?

Update-
Well I ended up taking my X5 to the a shop. I did not take it to a dealership because I did not want to spend the money for them to "find" out the problem. The door was in the locked position and would not unlock at all. The shop took off the door panel with the door still closed but still was not able to open the door. They ended up tracing the wires to find that they have been chewed by a mouse! They found a mouse nest next to the throttle body and that was making it stick. I was getting a "check engine light" every so often but would go back out. It took them 5 hours to get the door open and fix the wiring and replace the cable in the door to open the door. Ron |

A mouse nest!
Did you leave the vehicle parked for an extended period? |

No I do not. I use the X5 every day and I park in the garage. I have gone a vacation and left it for 3 days but that was several months ago. We did have a mouse in the garage a few months ago and I found it dead several days later in the hose of my shop vac. This was really surprising. I do live out of the city on a few acres that we farm for hay. I just was not aware that they would get into my car.
I was told to put some moth balls in the engine well and that will help keep them out of the car. I have several cats but they do not go into the garage. Maybe I need a barn cat for the garage! I will be setting some traps in the garage tomorrow. Ron |

Rats can do a lot of damage to your car esepcailly if it is idle for a long time. They like chewing on wires of our X5.

No power on passenger door *fix*
I just had this problem myself. I had no door power. Would not lock with key fob or from center console, the window did not respond from driver or passenger side, and the passenger mirror would not work. Occasionally the Open Door indicator would signal on the dash. All other doors/windows worked as normal. Checked the fuse 24, which was fine.
My fix: To pry the passenger door control module out (the window switch popped right out with a flathead screwdriver). I found one of the plugs was loose/disconnected. Popped the unit back in and voila, everything working again. Quote:
