Or is it more of a trial and error with a good probability of resulting in sucess?! Realisticly how much time could we burn up? Hours, days, weeks, months, lol? Bottom line is that I don't want to start something that I'll end up having to waste a bunch of your guys time trying to help me out.

I'm tempted to go rubin's route simply for the mere fact that I'll learn a ton and gain the experience plus possibly open up a world of options to my X5.

But if you more experienced guys are advising me stick with my PAC TR7, I'll probably sulk but respectfully understand. I'll be honest, Rondo's method would work but rubin's requires little to no physical electrical alterations to the hardwiring of the X5. I'm a BIG fan of that! Keeps things clean and safe!
Wow my brain hurts just thinking about the ibus.I guess that i will have a new goal to learn more about this.Thank you Rubin for the list and i will continue to digest this new information I have the interface and the navcoder so i guess i will begin there.Like you chusteveb i wonder how much time is needed?Just to finish the tr7 subject i found the wire colours at the door for the lock (trigger signal)it should be the black #2 pin & the key lock wire( which you found )is blue with red stripe #7pin let me know if these are correct on your car please. cheers Rondo

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Those wires are correct! I went ahead and extended them through the factory door jam boot into the cabin of the car. I may not be using the door lock as a trigger since I have found that the e-light module I installed has a programable output. I'm going to do a little more research on it and see if it will work. I'll keep you posted.

Maybe a better way of accomplishing this would be to find a trigger or status wire from the alarm, set your Pac tr7 so that when it recieves a signal from the alarm setting to send a 40 second neg signal to your key module to roll the windows up and close the roof.

My 740 is setup this way but I am using an aftermarket alarm to do so

Actually that was exactly the original plan and the reason I started this thread.
I just don't have the schematics for my factory alarm to find this trigger wire on arm. Is the X5 alarm setup multiplex enough to where I might not be able to find that type of output? I won't know for sure or my options without more knowledge of the brains on the factory alarm.

I too did the same on a few vehicles of mine using an aftermarket alarm and was also able to acomplish this on my Acura TL using the confirmation beep from the factory alarm to set off the PAC TR7 holding a ground to the key module long enough to close everything up but the X5 isn't so much as a confirmation beep since the piezo/siren sounds everytime, once to lock and twice to unlock. Too bad it wasn't the other way around or can give a confirmation beep or turn off the unlock beep.

Even at that I've already tried to use the beep from the alarm to trigger 2 PAC TR7's; one timed to roll up the windows after a short delay on one beep; the second PACTR7 triggered on 2 beeps when being unlocked, set to disable the power of the first PAC TR7 durring the short delay prior to performing its action to the key module. So in theory closing everything up would only work when being locked. But that didn't work. Our sirens have a built in back up battery so if it is removed while armed it will sound even though it is completely disconnected from the vehicle! Somehow it must be monitored as well. While I drove around with the setup of having the siren wires tapped, the alarm will randomly go off while I'm driving! That was funny and I could bnever figure out why or how it knew it was tapped. Must be multiplexed.

Anyways, if you can't share with me more about how my factory physically works, the schematics, where the brains of it is, or just anything at all, lets brainstorm!

Well I would love to but my X and 740 are currently in storage in San Antonio while I am in Tampa until the end of this year. But yes I found out about the backup battery when I disconnected the battery after putting my X in the storage room, I was shocked to hear the siren go off for a few minutes...

But after I make it back to San Antonio I will look into this but you may have it worked out by then so all the work will be done for me.
