TowX is on a distinguished road
Just had interesting towing conversation with Shop Foreman

at my dealership. He also tows with his X5. I told him about the flashing trailer lights when the car is shut off, and the blinkers that flash faster than normal. His doesn't do either of those.

BUT, he asked if I coded the car for the towing module. No I didn't. He said that the ECU needs to recognize the towing module. As long as my car is at the dealership, he's going to check the coding, and if it needs to be coded, he'll take care of it for me.

Could this be what all of us who've installed our own hitches need?

Also- he wired his brake controller right to the brake light switch at the pedal and has never had a problem. But he coded the system after doing the installation.

Stay tuned.
