Side mirror problems

Hi i have a 2003 4.4i x5. The car has always had screwy problems with the mirrors tilting down when you put the car in reverse and problems when you press the button to have the mirrors come in to the body. I wanted to know if anyone knows how to fix the mirrors tilting down when you put it in reverse. Rarely do they tilt down and the right one tilts down more often but then gets stuck and does not go back up. They mostly however dont move at all. Also sometimes the mirrors when i press the button for them to fold into the body one of them folds down and the other one stays or they switch back and for like that.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Sean

I too, have the sticky pass side mirror. I haven't received my Bentley manual yet, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of module that controls the mirror?

If you move the mirror selector switch on the driver's door to the passenger mirror side and leave it there, that is supposed to deactivate the mirror from tilting in reverse. At least that is the way mine is on my '01.

Wish I had folding mirrors...

It's a common problem with no fix to prevent this AFAIK.
It will usually return to the proper position if you press the seat memory button corresponding to your current settings.
