Is there a oil seperator "kit" available that includes this part?

What you need depends on the engine you have. There are 3 fixes for the 3 different X5 engines. See the attachments on post #1 on this thread for all the info you need:

Question...

This hit me about a year and a half ago and cost me a couple of grand to fix.

I think preventative maintenance is definitely advisable. Question though re: the "fix" it seems like it is just updated parts, correct? Is it fair to assume that my car is now fixed? I don't believe they changed out the dipstick (which seems to be necessary for the fix).

I have a 2001 X5. Were the updated parts available in late 2007 / early 2008?

Is the oil dipstick replacement a MUST? I'm in zone 6 and 7. Temps can deep down to 0 F. or less sometimes, but most of the time is above freezing during the day and below freezing at night (like teens)

Sorry to bump up a 2 year old thread... But I'm getting some conflicting information.

On my 05' 4.4, which I'm assuming is a N62 engine, but not positive... do I need to install new oil separator(s) and dipstick tube? I'm getting a rough idle at startup in the warmth here of FL.

Thanks.
