Newbie, with comfort seat question

Hi there, great forum!!!

I have been researching an 02 4.6is. Why do some appear to come with a front seats that offer an extender that you can pull out a bit for under your knees and hamstrings for added comfort ?
Is this the comfort seat option for 2002? it also appears the side bolster might be larger as well

pls advise

Thanks
Ron

Those are what is known as the "Sport" Seats, you are correct on the larger side bolster and thigh support. Its an valuable option.

Thanks

Brit6, thanks for the quick response

Darn, I wish all 4.6's being the beast for the 2002 model year, would have come with the Sport seating standard

I have a 06 4.8is. I tried both, and found the comfort seats to be much more comfortable overall, especially for long trips.

Wow, I would imagine the way this SAV handles, not having the Sport seats you would be all over the cabin going around corners

I use the X5 as a SUV, I have a e46 M3 for when I want to have some real fun. But I will admit that the X5 in IS trim does handle very well for its weight and size.

the sport seats kill my back, I highly recommend the comfort seats, and the sport seats were std on the 4.6 and so are the comfort, they're both no cost

The sport seats are fantastic! I don't think I have seen any 4.6is's with the comfort seats. I believe the sport seats were standard but could be switched for comfort seats.....

In my 4.6 search, I have seen it optioned both ways. The frustrating part is trying to find one with the right miles, desirable color, nav, sport seats, and the metal interior trim. Oh and of course CPO'd.

Gotta like BMW options, my 4.4i came with a Sport option (wheels etc) but the original owner then specced out the comfort seats

Why even bother with the Sport option.

Then they deleted the privacy glass option ..nice !

However, the two way lumbar adjustment and ability to curve the upper back rest in two pieces rather than just recline it is a very nice feature of the comfort seats. I am tall with a lot of my height in my back so this seat is way more comfortable for me.
