it all depends on how many times you go to the track and the weather conditions. You can def pull out a better time than your first. the trailblazer ss is about 14.0 in the quarter, I think it has u beat. Bmw is still the best in handling though. the twin turbo x will be a force to reckon with

the magazine companies usually have an adjustment factor for weather conditions, so they may not actually get what they say, furthermore, it would be easy to drop a few tenths by removing weight (like the spare tire and running out the gas tank), making sure the tire pressures are correct, and launching the car. I've always wondered whether the 4.8is was faster starting in 2nd gear vs. 1st b/c 1st seems so weak and 2nd feels like it's really pulling. Plus the car slips the transmission until 2500 rpm is reached (about 25mph) so it essentially keeps the torque #'s up. Also I'd be willing to bet that a <6500 rpm shift vs. the 7200 done with sport mode and the kick-down button pressed would be faster b/c the X doesn't really make that much power up there. I've tested this theory on on-ramps and when I shift around 6200 vs running it all out it looks as though my exit speed on the same ramp is at least 5 - 10 mph higher.

Doubt you would beat the trailblazer ss in the 1/4. From Car and Driver:
Performance ratings (mfr's est): Zero to 60 mph: 5.4-5.5 sec Standing 1/4-mile: 13.9-14.0 sec Certainly you would out handle it though. |

If you want to go to the track for fun, do it. But don't get your feelings hurt. The SS and the SRT8 are going to stomp the daylights out of you.
My previous vehicle was the GC srt8 and the X is WAY better in every category except out and out brutal acceleration. Have fun and enjoy yourself but keep your money in your pocket. |
