Problem w/ WD and dealer: should WD cover this?
I need some help. So I brought the X5 in for an oil change this morning and decided to have them check a few other things including two rattles (one from pano and one from the rear hatch possibly causing the license plate light to come on). I called the lady I bought the warranty from yesterday to make sure that it's okay to have the dealer check out the rattles. She wasn't there so I got transferred to somebody else whom I explained the situation and told me that I should definitely get it checked out and it should be covered. Mistake I made there is not remembering his name.
Forward to what happened today: -SA tells me he hasn't dealt w/ WD. He explains that extended warranties do not normally cover diagnostics but will try to get them to cover everything. I told him to make sure because I'm pretty sure mine covers it. Makes copy of everything including WD card. -SA tells me everything is fixed, talked to WD and they do not cover. -I called WD to double check if they don't cover. I called WD lady and she told me to call claims to see what happened. Called claims and no claim were made by the dealer. Claims guy explains to me that the dealer probably decided it is not covered so he did not bother to call. Tells me to make sure my repair is not under the fine print. -I call the dealer and politely asked who he spoke to. SA stumbles to not get a name and then admits he did not call. He just checked the site. He said that since it was a repair and no part was replaced then the warranty will not cover it. I wanted to tell him to call but I wanted to double check the site first. I asked him to break down my repair (loose piece on pano railing, loose piece inside hatch, and bulb replacement = 2 hrs + bulb + ebrake adjustment). He made it seem like they diagnosed for the most part and repaired for free. -I checked the site and called the WD lady. She said they can't make any adjustments if they don't know what exactly the repair is. She tells me to have the dealer call the number on the back of the card. -I call dealer back and SA is gone until Monday. Another SA didn't want to call bc they are short handed and backed up at the moment. My impression is the dealer does not want to deal with WD or any non BMW extended warranty. I understand that but I have to pick up the car tomorrow. When I do that then the SA will not want to call WD on Monday. I just feel like I’m getting the run around. If it is part of the pano, making unnecessary noise, then something is wrong. Same goes for the rear hatch. Should I just pay and try to have WD to reimburse? I think the dealer does not care because they just want their money either way. The main reason I got the secure+ warranty w/ zero deductible was bc I do not want the hassle of paying for diagnostics if I think something is wrong with the car. WD explained everything is covered except for the ones in the exclusions. I am going to call customer service tomorrow and see what they say. Am I supposed to middle man the dealer and WD? Anybody have similar experience? Sorry for the rant but it just feels like something is not right or I missed something. Thanks for your help.
