Just wondering what are the main advantages of this scanner that worth the US$1200?

Please please tell me that this tool doesn't allow people to just easily adjust there odometer reading. I'm looking for an x5 and really don't want that on the back of my mind. I believe the reading is also stored in the key right, and this tool should not be able to modify that and hopefully it can't modify any of the values in the truck especially not the cluster.

Dear mkanaan,
I just bought the scanner 1.3.6 like you have. I was scanning my car, and it showed some error (1st time using this). And then I did the reset the program of my car. Now the Iddle goes up to 900 rpm at park, driving very rough now. Do you know how to setup the program or restore my original setting from dealer?
Please give me advise

It is simply fantastic, so much improved over the 1.3.6 version. Please be assured I personally have nothing to do with this product, I am simply a user who is suitably impressed and felt it worth sharing my experience.

For everyone who wishes to (re-)code their car this is the answer for example:

(1) Re-code all the lighting system, Xenon to Non-Xenon etc, no more relays, resistor packs etc etc. Re-code the bulb warm up sequence (value 72 for Xenon and 22 for Halos)

(2) Re-code the key memory functions

(3) Re-code navigation systems and TV on the move (no more kits)

and many more....

It is particularly good for replacement modules, pick these up secondhand and re-program and re-code and off you go.

Here are some screen shots from my car, I turned off key memory, dynamic Xenon adjustments and a few other things along the way, you can read the config, save it, alter it and of course restore the old settings, this software can do things that the dealer can't.

If anyone lives in The Netherlands and wishes to have some re-coding done please contact me.

Here is the URL for the web site: BMW Scanner by P.A.Soft - BMW diagnostic software and used parts reprogramming tool

I simply ordered it through the web.

BMW scanner V1.4 experience

I just received BMW scanner V1.4 (software version 1.4.0.7 – current from the P.A. website). It was ordered from Ebay for $80. Took a while to understand how to correctly install drivers (INF file needs a minor correction). It helped to diagnose and resolved my issues with LCM nicely.
One issue I noticed that gets me worried about quality of the software: Aux. ventilation is set to 35:16:00 (in place of time) right after initial scan of the modules.

Is this tool the alternate to the GT1 DIS/SSS scanner? What can it do different from the SSS program the dealer uses? I have a GT1 which I am learning how to use. Still have alot of questions...Great tool, but your scanner sounds easier to use.
