This is my winter wheel I really like it . Bought the set with tires from a friend and I am going to have to get motivated to put the chromes back on!
Paul, you have my EXACT wheels and tires. I haven't invested in any 20" setup yet, so it's good to hear the Michelin Energy all-seasons hold up well in deep snow. I haven't had a chance to test mine on any snowy hills. But I have noticed these tires can also take a LOT of pothole and debris abuse here on the NJ turnpike and on NYC roads. I just replaced them with a fresh identical Michelin set at 31 K miles, but honestly, that was due more to my anal nature than any true need to replace them. The tread was still excellent and they could gave gone another 20K miles easy.

BTW, have you decided on any of the Dinan mods? I'm pretty certain if you get the CAI-throttle body-software combo on a 4.8is, you'll have yourself a beast. I'm almost certain that a Cayenne GTS will not outpace a Dinannned 4.8is, though a Cayenne Turbo will still smoke it.

Stan
I havent figured out Dinan yet. But you think the Throttle body and software would be noticable?
So Stan how come F18? We have a bunch here.

We have had a very "snowy" winter in Toronto this year and my 4.8is running on 20" wheels with Pirelli snows has been flawless. I turn my DSC off also in the snow, I like to have more control over the car, I do the same with the M3 in the snow.
I was hesistant to get 20" wheel/tire snow package, but so far its been great and do not see any problems except the addition cost of it all.

As for the Dinan mods, I don't think it will make a huge diff really. It might make the throttle a bit more immediate, but don't expect much as there is really not much gain. The TB is really not gonna make a diff, I have them on my M3(and there are 6 individual ones).
After I do my Brembos, Im sure I will get the Dinan CAI/TB/SW combo, I love to mod.

I can only speak based on my own experience, and I have noticed a decent boost on my 4.4i. If anything, Dinan is pretty conservative with their performance numbers and they won't put out a number until they consistently reproduce it on a dyno. They also point out that software alone will NOT give any hp gain without the corresponsing hardware mods. Anyway, for the 4.8is, it looks like you'll get 15 hp for the CAI and 9 hp for the throttle body. Throw in a free flow exhaust and you've got another 8 hp. That's 32 hp total. Most of that "bonus" is hidden until you floor it past 5000 rpm. Anyway, I was not disappointed. The other reason I went with Dinan is that they're fully approved by BMW NA. No voiding of the warranty, or having to reverse mods when you take it in for service.

Dinan's #s are bogus.
I hate to tell you this, but there is not way those simple bolt on mods are giving you that sort of power increase, just does not work that way on modern cars. You will be lucky if you are getting 10 to 15 extra hp with the CAI/TB/SW and exhaust combo.
The TB will give you next to no power increase, just help with throttle response.

Also, the warranty thing with Dinan, BMW is not providing warranty on the Dinan part or if something goes wrong related to it, its Dinan that is covering the work, so don't get confused there, as Dinan wants ppl to think that BMW will cover them.

Im not bashing Dinan, I have their cams, intake, TBs, diff, and use to have their SW on my M3. Im just giving you the facts.
