Here's the thread and info

I just dealt with this same issue b/c I bought dealer take-off 18's from an E70 to use as a snow set up on an E53 and got the answers in the thread below.

The E70 wheels have a slightly larger bore size than the wheels for the E53 so you will need hub centric rings to make them fit perfectly.

Doc from the Tire Rack wrote:
E70 74.1

E53 72.6

The difference is 1.5mm, so that's the thickness you will need for the hub centric rings to make the E70 rims fit your E53 hubs.

Here's the original thread, it started as a thread by jobaker4 about 18" wheel fitment on the 4.6 and 4.8, and then on page 2 it gets into your question. The name of the thread is: "
18" rims will NOT fit on 4.8is"

A Search would have turned up the wheel site below:
http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/

Click on "Alle" drop down menu and take a look at any/all of
the E53 wheels: there are many styles with offset right in
the 40s. Whether your specific aftermkt wheels will fit is
not known by me. But, the offset is in the ballpark.

Many prefer a staggered look in 19"/20", but diff'n strokes.

Huh? ...did you look at the site?

It shows nearly every oem style wheel, with specs, for X5s...
If you looked, you will have noticed that most wheels are in
the 40s for offset. Do the arith.

Staggered are simply an aesthetic choice.

Can I guarantee that your aftermkt wheels will "fit"? No...
Will they probably fit: with the 45 offset that you state, yes,
as that is right in "the middle" of most E53 wheels; that was my
point of offering up a very good site with wheel specs.

Other than that, which is plain to be gleaned in the site you
obviously spent < 20 seconds perusing, I'll pass on anymore
of this thread or, your questions.

I looked at it again and if im correct does the part where it says ET aand then the number have to do with offset? If so I get what your saying. I loked at it for a while before but never noticed that. I checked again looked harder and found that.
