Also diving into the E70 wheel setup on my 4.4i Sport. Here's a video I uploaded today with a test fit of the style 334 19''x9'' new E70 wheel:

If you adjust for the bore size with hub centric rings, you should be good, otherwise not gonna work.
But what about the difference in 1.25 vs 1
5 thread pitch? Is this the bolt that attaches the wheel, so you need to change hubs as well?

No.

Hub centric rings only and since you're using the same lug bolts in the same holes (just different rims) you don't have to worry about the thread pitch.

Thanks, there's so many more E70 wheels and barely any E53

I found a set of 18 inches, 2 sets of 20 and one set of 22 inches. 22 look the best but don't even know if they'd fit.
But these look so cool

Larger you go with, the stiffer/crappier ride you will feel while driving. Be forewarned.

I did some digging and 20 inches is the max.
Maybe 22 is possible, not sure.

I decided to go with 18 inches.
It's the second picture from the top.

Apparently these wheels came off E90, and then were on 2008 E70.
I don’t understand how, given the hub is bigger on E70

But if they're in face from E90 with 72.56 diameter, would they work on E53? At this point I think it's only the offset I'd have to worry about. If they fit when I try them on is that fine, or do I have to worry about anything else.

I guess based on this chart the difference in offset between E53 and E90 is insignificant.

Ran 22" Breyton Magic Super on the E53 circa 2010... god those wheels were cool. Yes they fit. Ride however, is a different story. Im on 20's now, with tires that barely fit.

I got 18 rims, so I'll put the biggest tires I can on 8 inch rim, 235 65 18
And by biggest I mean the tallest, as the wheels look really small on the vehicle

Would you happen to have a picture of that to share?
