Sounds great! I really liked driving through the desert from LV to LA, will have to go up 395 next time I do it. The only place I have been in the east Sierras was near Truckee, CA and I loved the area. Will definitely have to go south!
When I was in Baker it was 119 degrees!
Some day I will take a roadtrip there....beautiful area.

Paul, awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing. Wishing I could be there as I was daydreaming at work earlier while staring at those gorgeous pictures. Glad to hear the X did well without the need of chains!

The weather hasn't been too bad in NYC this winter...we had a couple minor snowstorms, no more than 6". I travel to LA often for business, sometimes pleasure, love the drive from SF down to LA...not sure if I could live out there though. Law & Order has been filmed on my block several times, it definitely shows some of the best landscapes NYC has to offer.

Great pics by the way...

Can support the report on how good the X5 can be in snow. I got completely snowed in whilst skiing in the French Pyrenees, but amazingly 10 minutes after taking the 1st photo below, I took the 2nd photo, just drove out and away up the mountain. Just cleared a gap to drive forward and cleared the windows of snow. Far better than either Land Rover Discovery or Isuzu 4x4 I've had.

I need to take a picture of the 12 foot snowbanks outside my ski house. Thank god we plow it, otherwise our garage would be trapped!

We have 9 inches now, and I think I might need snow tires after all on my 3...

I know how you feel Miac. Look at the snow in the pic of my family. You can see the snow up to the bottom of the decks of the 2nd floor. thats 14-15 feet from the ground up to those decks!!
