Awesome pics and great write up. Makes the mountains where we go look like ant hills.
Glad to hear how well your X performed in the snow.

Very good right up and good to know how well the x performed in snow. BTW the 18" wheels setup looks very nice.

cool pics! Making the kids clear the snow, eh?

But where are these mountains you take pictures of? Seems pretty flat on the map.

If I can jump in real quick, Mammoth Mountain sure isn't flat... haha! I'm sure paulgt3 and his family experienced blizzard-like/white out conditions this past weekend like this day above the clouds back in 2005 at 11,053 feet...

here's the trail map including the "main lodge" location where spaulgt3 took some of his photos...http://www.mammothmountain.com/ski_r...map/index.cfm#

Ok, I give up. Google maps is telling me that Mt. Whitney is in San Diego. But I think you mean that this is not Mammoth, CA, but Mammoth Lakes/Mammoth Mt, CA.

I need to visit this place!

Yea True Mammoth Lakes I am sorry. I didnt know there was a mammoth ca!
also Mt Whitney is in Lone Pine California. Look at hwy 395 as it runs from Reno to Interstate 15 down by victorville california. thats where I live on hwy 395 as it runs along the Sierra mountains. beautiful in the winter, no so in the summer. Since we are at 2000 feet in Ridgecrest it gets to 115 in the summer. My place in Mammoth Lakes is at 8000 feet. The mountain there goes from 9000 at the base to 11,500 Approximately. Its 180 miles north of my place in the south. I have a place in both places.
