Thumbs up Exhaust Tips n Running Boards !

Hi Guys,
Just purchased a pristine 2005... had a couple of questions that I could use some help with:
1) I was planning on replacing the exhaust tips with chrome/stainless Oval tips, in particular Borla's 20155 tip. The part indicates the inlet diameter on this part is 2 1/2". Without removing the factory tips at this point, it appears that the exhaust pipe is WIDER than 2 1/2". Am I wrong, and would this tip work ok? Any thoughts/experieince with replacing the factory tips would be appreciated.
2) Without putting "flares" on the wheel wells, can someone make some suggestions for matching trim Running Boards, that would blend in, without having to modify the fenders? Any ideas/websites/manufacturers would also be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thumbs up

Two more short questions in this regard:
1) Has anybody installed JUST the running boards (ie the factory black option), without the flares ? If so, does it work, or does it look lame?
2) Any advise about removing the factory exhaust tips to replace with chrome ovals? - What it the best/easier way to get them off? Just a rubber mallet and chisel/screwdriver, or ? They appear to be just compression hammered on.
Also, IS the standard input width of the pipe 2 1/2" - I was thinking of using Borla tips, rather than OEM. Thanks

you have to cut off the tip because they are welded on.

Thanks for the response, but I verified with the local dealer - they are just pressure hammered on, can be removed with rubber mallet and block of wood or cloth wrapped chisel...
