3rd time's a charm - toasted rear regulator

This was the icing on another shitty monday. I should have know better than to roll the rear driver side window all the way down.... CLUNK. Pretty sure the POS plastic window clips got sheared off by the weight of the window as they have for BOTH my front doors. I can hear the regulator when i press switch up and down.

At least I need to take the panels off to put aftermarket speakers in but I could have done without another one of these.

I think there should be a class action lawsuit against BMW for these god damn clips.

So this is just the 3rd window that has gotten fubarred and another bullet point on a long list of things that have broken on this car. I guess I will take the little ticky tack things over the big stuff tho.

I am afraid to tint my windows since the film could get ripped if the window falls off the track. I will replace these clips and then do the other one and then i will have all new clips. Some how that doesn't give me warm fuzzies and a strong sense of security, lol.

This has happened to me twice.

I have mine tinted and this happened to me 3 times too. My tint didn't rip off any time it happened. Not sure if that makes you feel any better. But the tint is stuck on there pretty good. It would pretty much have to be scraped off I would think. But, its up to you..

OK... took the rear door panel off. This was a major bitch i thought compared to the front ones. Luckily i didn't mark it up very much at all. Couple times i thought i was gonna rip the damn thing.

So the clip is fine, its the motor cable thats all jacked up. Its all tangled and shit so I doubt there is anyway to reliably fix it.

Can i just get a new motor or do i need the whole new regulator assembly? If not can i just transfer the motor over?

How the hell did this happen anyway? I see some strange greasy spring deal at the end of it... not sure where this should be.

What a bitch.

Your motor should be good. Since the regulator is trashed, just cut the cable around the motor and install motor with new regulator.

On a side note, the rear regulator went out on the 330. I should have left it alone, but wanted to see if the window would roll up. By doing so, the snapped cable kept hitting the window, thus messing up my tint.

I see. I think you are right, motor still seems to function. I will order a new regulator, ugh.

Good point about not messing with it once its down and out. I will be getting tint soon and i dont want to mess it up.

Do new regulators come with motors anyway? I got an aftermarket one from ebay in hopes that it might be built better. Will I need to transfer my existing motor?

Like I said, i think its fine, but I am not 100% positive how to tell. I suppose I can take the other rear door panel off and see what that one looks like.
