If I buy something new, it will almost definitely be a Turbo Cayenne, but I think it is unrealistic for me at this point (especially with insurance). I'd like to keep a $300 a month car payment on whatever I buy and that makes buying new unrealistic unless I put a huge chunk of change down. I just bought a townhouse, paid off my g35 and have some money sitting here for a new/used car.

I guess I will keep my eyes open for an 01-02 4.4i with decent mileage and go from there. Looks like I will be heading up to the dealership on sunday to take an X5 out for a drive..

FYI, mine is an after market extened warrant which I bought from exotic used car dealer who I purchased a used ML320 b4. I did the same way with my X5 & ML . Both bought semi used/ new, still within factory warranty though. Believe me, I got my money worth for the ML (Instrument cluster replaced due to clock rest knob broken, windows switch inop - too many times to remember plus others...). 5 yrs owning the ML, still have 20k+ warranty.

This is a complete scam. Believe it or not it seems to happen more frequently with Corvettes, there is a posting over on z06vette.com almost weekly about the same scam. Run don't walk away from this "deal"...

Sounds good, thanks for the info. I will definitely add the warranty to my budget.

IF it's a true offer , for that price I'd tell the guy I'm on the next flight down to inspect the X5 - get a title search, need VIN # - do you know anyone who lives close to this car? - That's what made me feel easier about my eBay purchase

Where in TX is he? I am in Dallas - could possibly check it out for you if not too far away.

It is definitely sketch because the phone number he has is a New York area code number and he said he has lived in texas for the past few years and just got relocated, but wouldn't give me any information where in the UK or anything about the exact location of the car. It is getting more and more sketchy by the minute when I email this guy...

I think I am just going to let this one pass and hope to find something better. I am still a couple weeks out from purchasing, I really need to test drive one to make sure I am comfortable and enjoy the ride of the truck.

i've seen this before...total scam. ALWAYS same story..."moved out of the country and just NEED to sell the car". Escrow.com does you no good if there is no car. but it looks like you've decided to let this one go so that's good news.

I had a guy try this trick on me last year and when i called him out on it he sent me some VERY threatening e-mails and even pictures of his 'privates' telling me where he was going to stick them. I was livid and tried getting him in trouble somehow through yahoo for sending threatening e-mails but they couldn't do anything. Beware, these guys are scum. I'm sure they do quite well with the 1% or so of dumb people who go through with it and send some money.
