2004 4.8is, Bluetooth Antenna, no Pairing button?

As the subject says - I've dug around in the back, and I've found that it does have the Bluetooth antenna installed - part number 8450 6928461-01 06-04.

However, I don't have any BT documention except for the standard telephone documention - and there's no mention of Bluetooth at all in this manual, nor in any others. Based on the documentation found online, there should be a pairing button in the console tray - there is no button. The steering wheel, however, does have the button.

Following the instructions for pairing (hold button for at least a second, turn key, release button after a few seconds) does not cause the BT Pairing message to appear. I think the steering wheel button can't be used for pairing...

So, what gives? I have the BT antenna, but no pairing button (in the console tray, anyways). BMW Assist works, but that's it.

My sales guy says that the vehicle does have BT - how do I make it work?
