Thumbs down Uncomfortable sport seats!?

My wife and I just had our long drive (5 hrs) in the 3.0 with sport package (sport seats). The seats are way too firm and we were not able to find a comfortable adjustment at all. After the trip, we felt like we just got off a 20 hour flight.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there any way to mitigate this (e.g. shearling seat covers)? Are the comfort seats much better and is it worth getting these sport seats replaced?

For the mere discomfort seating, I am beginning to regret giving up the Range Rover for this X5 (inspite of the fact that the RR spent much of its time in the shop!)

Thanks for your shared thoughts-

The Sport seats are not comfortable at all for long journey's. Forget the Comfort seats, even the regular ones are super comfy. You should be able to easily find someone willing to trade their regular seats for your Sport ones.

The sheepskin covers may help. You may try ebay for comfort seats which would be more comfortable. Good luck

mrbmwx5....I may be interested in the trade. Do you have pix of your seats? Mines are in excellent (97%) condition and yes they are black. How involved is it to swap out seats?
Please email pix to mygsdmax(at)yahoo.

I have an 04 3.0i w/ sport package, and the problem I have with the sport seats is that lower side bolsters tend to annoy me after driving it for an hour. I wish they could be adjusted, and relaxed a little bit. I do find the leg extensions to be helpful though, and they tend to add comfort to the ride.

I also wish the sport seats had lower lumbar adjustability.

But, they are SPORT seats, and are great on my daily drive to/from work...just not long hauls...
