Bingo. The peeps you really need to feel bad for are the poor bastards making minimum wage, which is about 3 dollars more an hour then a gallon of gas costs.

$3.75 a gallon is cheap
We are currently paying £4.80 approx per UK Gallon (equates to about £4 per US Gallon or $8.10 per US Gallon).

As of yesterday, I will have to pay the Government £450 per year ($910) just for owning the damned 3.0 X3 Sport! That's a 110% increase in 12 months.

I'd trade places with any of you in N. America anytime (or in fact the rest of the civilised world for that matter - see if you can find many places in the world where motoring is more expensive)

Yup... Upgrade your ECU with PowerChip's performance software. More power, but the added side effect that if you drive "normal" (not like a BMW owner all the time) you will get better mileage. I did it to my Coupe, and then the X5 8 months ago. The X went from 20mpg on the hwy to 24mpg (flat to gentle rolling freeway. Some assertive passing but no hard pedal to the floor driving). Only 1mpg better in the city though.

The Coupe, amazingly, went from 28mpg to 34mpg. Not kidding..
