A lighter, more gentle right foot on the gas...anticipate braking. Avoid
jack rabbit starts. Keep tires pumped to rec'd pressure. Avoid stop
and go traffic if possible, avoid long idle, air filter clean, etc. ...
those are all basic gas saving 101 ideas. Nothing new.

There are no gizmos or gadgets that will add any real world mpg improvement
that I am aware of, if that is your question.

AFE intake might help..But its probably minimal. Maybe some members with that intake will chime in..

It's not worth the saving of using lower octane. The engine will retard it's timing to compensate, producing less power, thus using more fuel. So, the cost saving basically gets cancelled out. The only time that I can see a slight benefit in using a lower octane is strictly freeway cruising, where the loss of power won't be noticed too much.

If there was something that you could install it would already be used by BMW.

MD suggestions are all valid - slow and steady etc.........but what fun is that.

There are no gadgets or anything else that will help except the common sense options we all have. There is also the option of driving less/combining trips/ and using public transportation.

Believe it or not part of the high cost of fuel is based on demand. So..... to get the upper hand, a collective decrease in demand will cause the price to go down.

Problem is, getting enough people to board that train is next to impossible.

The top 10 ways to improve gas mileage

1. Lighten the car by removing any unnecessary cargo in the trunk.
2. Make sure your tires filled to the recommended PSI.
3. Do an alignment
4. Drive like an adult rather than a jackrabbit.
5. Use a fuel injector cleaner and seafoam if available.
6. Drive with the windows closed (obvious one here) and keep the a/c off.
7. Get new tires if your treads are 30% or less.
8. Drive solo if possible or tell your heavy friends to drive themselves.
9. Go on a diet.
10. Ride in someone else's car
