Most likely yes, you will void the warranty on the electronics as you will have to integrate with them. Regardless of using OEM parts, you are not a BMW tech. So yes, you would probably lose that part of the warranty. Now, that said, if your transmission blew out, that should still be covered as what you have played with did not effect that part.
IMO...I wouldn't do it, just get a portable NAV unit.

Thanks! appreciate quick response! i have seen a ton of great DIY projects here on X5World and being an electronics hobbiest myself i was thinking that may be i could do most of it myself but would stay away if factory warranty is in question.
Thanks again Milind |

I have a TomTom One XL-S and it's awesome. Holds a charge for 3 hours or so, and I mount it right up behind the rearview mirror, so it's nice and clean, no wires. It navigates much better than any in-dash unit I've used. Namely the Hardon Karmon systems used in Range Rovers and BMWs

Thanks! i did explore that option as well but mounting rules here in CA do not allow that. I am exploring options of having a CAR PC in my E53.

It's a huge install. Forget it.
