Dice Silverline or other integration...

Okay, I searched the forums forever today and could not find the answer to this so I thought I would ask you guys. I have seen pictures of the new Dice Silverline kit (for a navigation car) and when it displays the song title ect.. the text is HUGE and has to scroll just to see artist, song title, album and there is alot of empty space on the screen. Is there any way to make the text smaller so you can see it all at one time like the Intravee 2 kit? I would get the intravee 2 kit but it looks like it has a different problem... the text is layed out nicer but it does NOT scroll from what I have seen? Can someone help me out here, these are the only 2 kits I have found for a navigation X5. I thought by now they would have kits that showed album art and were nicly layed out, giving it a good OEM look... Thanks for your help!

I installed it on mine. They don't have the bugs worked out. The text supposedly will span across the display without requiring scrolling, my installation will not. It will work into two ways; large scrolling text and small scrolling text. The smaller text appears above where you see the large text. Also, there is digital noise you can hear in the background which seems to be sync'd with the scrolling of the text. I am very fussy, so the average person may not notice the noise. The audio seems to be very "bright" sounding as well. The installation is very simple (at least my model), didn't require the DSP adapter even though the manufacturer indicated it was. I called them on it and they said "yeah, we know". They seem more than happy to take it back (now I have the hassle of packing it up and returning it).

Besides the issues mentioned above, I like it better than the the BMW supplied kit due to the benefit of seeing what I'm listening to and access to the songs and artists directly.

There is a small text option, it's a bit hard to read while driving.

The DICE was intended to integrate the iPod and allow the most used features onto the steering wheel controls/NAV screen - safe driving is still priority #1 here. For most people, this is perfectly fine and a good price. Making the kit more complex introduces a higher probability of issues, not to mention fiddling around with the different controls - typically while driving.

The intravee is about 3x the cost of the DICE kit when completed - most people are running the DICE kits.

Okay, one more question. The guy above said something about noise in the sound? The reason I am getting this is because I want CD quality from my ipod... will there be noise? And, he also you do not need the DSP module and that you guys know that? What do you think. Thanks!

There is noise which I can only hear during quiet passages and in-between songs. I believe it is noise from the data being transmitted from the module for the on-screen text. I called the manufacturer about this and they said "yeah we had another X5 do that". It seems as thought they will stand behind the product based upon my telephone conversation with the manufacturer. I wouldn't be afraid of it.

The place I ordered the kit from led me to believe through the online ordering system, that if I had DSP I would need the DSP "option". Needing this turned out to be incorrect. The manufacturer said it would not be a problem to return it for credit...just don't know who I go to; the manufacturer or the place I bought it.

Do any DICE SILVERLINE vendors have to say anything about this?

no noise from my intravee

thus far i am using the Intravee with the alpine ipod adapter.
As far as i recall, i believe the titles scroll but i could be mistaken.

I had a buzzing on my NAV/DSP/Intravee II setup which turned out to be a bad speaker. The speaker was replaced by Bayside BMW and its been utter joy playing the ipod directly through my nav/audio system. The sound is crystal clear and the text size is adjustable. The integration with the OE bluetooth and nav is flawless as well as it will lower in volume or completely pause when there is an incoming call. Likewise if you use the phone to dial out...

The guys on the Intravee support forums are also quick to respond to questions and install issues as well. Service always paramount as you chose the products and ultimately the individuals who make money off you. Just my two cents.

The DICE will produce the same audio quality as listening to the iPod with headphones on. The higher the bitrate - the better the quality. We recommend at ripping 192kbps or higher, or using Apple's lossless format.

You will need the additional DSP adapter if you have Digital DSP, a detailed article on the subject can be found here: http://www.europeanautosource.com/su...mod_id=2&id=11
