Cabin Filter

I'm suffering from anaphylaxis ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaphylaxis) and would like to have this : (http://www.allergybegone.com/bmw-x5-...ir-filter.html) installed in my X5. You guys think it'll work?

For $27 it's worth a try. Do a before and after comparison of the air flow at max fan setting to make sure it doesn't cause too much of a pressure drop.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I believe your X5 should already have this filter "installed". Isn't it what the air goes through when you press the "A" button on the recirculation control? But it is a consumable part which gets clogged over time (like any A/C filter), so you do need to have it replaced by the dealer when you take it in for service. Or you can order the part and do it yourself of course.

The X5 does have a cabin micro-filter. Pretty much all modern BMW's built from the early 1990's on have one. Is this particular filter supposed to do more than the OEM filter or something?

Thanks for your inputs. I'm just especially interested in this filter because of its feature to block off the allergerns that affect me as compared to the OEM filter.

As the company claims : "Particle filters with microfiber medium protect you from pollens, road dust, abraded particles as well as soot, bacteria, industrial dusts and other respirable ultra-fine particles. Carbon filters additionally protect you from exhaust gases, odours, ozone, benzene etc."

Thought I'd be sure with regards to compatibilty. Guess I will give it a try.

I installed that filter and I feel some different. It does help when you drive behind some old cars that gave out bad smog that causes your health risk.

When you press A button the Automatic Airflow function is activated, it means that the carbon filter will be activate up on nead (if the car sensor sences high polution) and the same automatic system will shut of went for geting the air from outside if polution is to grate. So why did this not work for our fiend, most likely becouse the system is not made for people with alergies.

Then you should be calling an ambulance, rather than surfing the net. Perhaps you meant you have some allergies, or you had anaphylaxis some prior time. Anaphylaxis is an acute life-threatening allergic reaction.
