1qt/1kmi is within BMW spec. This oil consumption you're experiencing now, is related to the break-in of the engine when it was new.

I have 125k and I use about 1qt every 5k-8k or so.. variable driving conditions, stop and go, highway, just depends on which way I go to work or to play..

We have the same vehicle and same oil consumption as the OP. It sucks but alas such is reality....

Could you explain how it relates to the break-in of the engine? What was done wrong to cause this?
