New brake pads?? How much time?
2001 3.0
The light on my dash just came on 2 days ago indicating that I need new brake pads. I have already replaced the front pads and rotors so I know that it is the rear brakes that need to be done. Once this light comes on, how long do I have until they must be replaced? Thanks in advance. |

ASAP. My light did come on, and I think I got just a few hundred miles before I hit the rotors.

There is no precise answer, since the sensor is on one side only and the other side could be worn either more or less. You probably have a few hundred miles, but if you hear grinding, that's it.

you'll have about 10% left on the pad based on my experience with the x5.

Also, you may have to replace the sensors now too..I'm not sure though.

Rears will be a lot longer than fronts after the light goes on. At least 2k, probably more

sensors will definitely need to be changed. You cannot reuse them once the light came on.

We're talking about a part of your vehicle that your life may depend upon. Take no risks, replace asap IMHO.
