I've had a similar problem, but only when it's either snowing or raining. Obviously, there was a water issue in my case. I found a leak in the strangest place: when you open the upper gate, look for the stopper mechanism on the right side (it looks like a bushing) and inspect. Check the plate that holds the bushing and the seal in between it and the body. I found that this was deteriorating on my 2001 X5 4.4 which resulted in water leaking through into the fuse box that was consealed within. If you have the same problem, a little silicon will do the trick.

Also, check the fuse to see if it was blown... could be caused by water leaking (see post above).

Open the rear gate, then pull the right side compartment off. You'll then see the fuse box and please be sure that there is no corrosion. If there is, check behind that gate stopper mount. One way to test it is wash your car then see if any water is leaking into the fuse compartment... does that help?

2002 3.0i. Problem are starting to show up on this vehicle after 70K on it. The license plate light is out. Right Axle is clicking. Roundel is chipping off. Secondary Air Pump or TPS Sensor is acting up. Is it time to consider the new model or shall I wait for BMW hybrid or diesel?
Please if anyone knows a good dealer for the above parts at an inexpensive cost? Thank you, Rick. |
