New brakes for my 4.8is...

I tried searching, but I couldn't find any info. Since my X was purchased in the States (living in Canada now) I do not get free maintenance, so I have to pay for oil changes and brake jobs though my car still has factory warranty.

My question is, would it be better/cheaper to go with aftermarket rotors and pads instead of OEM rotors and pads? If so, what's available? I really want slotted rotors, too!

Thanks guys!

If you have a 4.8is, then I'm assuming you have 20" staggered setup? Obviously Brembos come to mind (you should have the rim clearance), if you have the budget. I know Dinan centers do Brembo upgrades on X5s in the US. Not sure who does them in Canada though...

yeah, but I need brake to clear winter wheels.... I was thinking along the lines of brembo replacement rotors with some nice pads... but I don't think brembo makes replacement rotors for the X...

Bavarian Autosport has slotted rotors for the 4.8is, but they were about the only place I could find them. I didn't realize how much more limited your aftermarket choices are for rotors compared to the 3.0/4.4.

I bought Centric rotors for my 4.4 from Zeckhausen, but I don't think they offer rotors for the 4.8is. OEM may be your best bet. You probably aren't going to notice much difference between OEM and slotted rotors anyway and since you are running winter wheels a big brake kit is out.

Does Stoptech make direct replacement rotors for the 4.8is?
