4.4 or 4.6 need help

Hey Guys ... I'm new to X5s.
I want to get one for my wife. I saw one at the dealer, black, black interior, 4.6L 2003 w/out navigation... there are not a lot of opions on the car. It has 25,000 miles - everything looked to be in great condition. They want 55,000 for the car. Or, should I get a new one 4.4L?
Can anybody help me out? What are some of the stats on 4.6? 0-60? It it at least close to the 4.8? Can you change the headlights from the 2003 xenon to the 2005 angel eyes?
Ok thanks.......

Yeh I thought of that, too, but I've always thought that any 4.6 is better than any 4.4. I don't know anything about the new 2005 4.4 - top speed, how it drives... It just looks awesome - mean....

I think for the money...I would get the 4.4. I love the 4.6is for the extra hp, but 315 hp for the 4.4i and 345 for the 4.6is. 30hp difference, but one is a used car...and I think 55k is probably a little steep...especially without navigation.

I'd go with a new 4.4i... Better mileage, still performs great. If you wanted the new look ('04+) you'd have to spend thousands on a facelift.. But it's not out of the question, some people here have done it. I'd still go with a new 4.4i though.

Also, a new one would have blueooth and panoramic moonroof standard. Bluetooth is something that could be retrofitted for some more money, and the pano moonroof is an 04+ only option.

Good points. Also, it's got xdrive, the new 6-speed auto transmission, and lots else.

Thanks. What is "X Drive"? How is the 6 speed transmission, awesome? I also loved the aluminum trim on the 4.6... can you get it on the new 4.4?
Thanks
