YES IT CAN BE DONE BUT IT WOULD BE ILLEGAL!!! I am in no way advocating that the OP do this nor offering encouragement to anybody to do this as it would be illegal and morally wrong. What anybody does with the info is up to them. Aiding and abetting would be doing a writeup, an offer to do it, referrals etc. |

No policeman here but......
If what you say is true then why offer a solution in substance, ie "Reprogramme the instrument cluster, the LKM and your key to any mileage you want it to show."? And then say "No PM's on this as if you have the answer? Seems like a useless declaration if in fact one cannot use the information. Quote:

If I were to install a new intrument cluster I wouldn't pay stealer rates. As long as I return the odometer to the actual mileage, disclose that the instrument cluster and mileage has been changed, I don't see a problem. This information is for those who want to avoid the stealer's rates. VDO places also repair/reprogram instrument clusters all the time. No PM's meant that I'm not going to answer questions on howto's or can I help. Should I have waited until the PM's came and then reposted in this thread - Please no PM's. Now if I had said - Please no PM's ....Mods please delete my answer to xnsf if you find it to be violating the TOS of this forum or the harmony that exists on this excellent forum. No arm wrestle here but I know who the response was directed towards and i based my comment on that and nothing more because no other criteria was given. I am aware of the other options if one were to install a new intrument cluster but that isn't what the topic was about. It was just my 2 cents and now back to the topic.

This site is about information sharing. Maybe suggestion to mod should also be to change the title of this thread(Reset mileage how to) to Reset tripmeter/Cons1/Cons2. 2 cents exactly! |

Hey no MOD is needed to change the title
The OP can change the title himself if he wants to. FWIW the poster ask a specific question. I made the effort to provide some info. based on his question. If he wants additional info i'm sure he knows how to ask for it. Having said that. I have no more to say on the subject. Quote:
