2001 X5 60K miles maintenance service
Hello Bimmer enthusiasts
I have a 2001 X5 4.4i I purchased recently: it currently has 60K miles on it. Service Light is NOT on. I have no idea of previous maintenance that was done on the vehicle, and now my question is: is there anything I should do now? I am planning to change oil since I dont know how long ago it was changed, but anything else? Regards and Thanks is Advance Krishna |

I used the Handy Search Tab:
http://www.xoutpost.com/search.php?searchid=1232084 pages of threads on "60K"/Insp ll service. You might roll by your local BMW stlr and ask them to "run" your key, which will show what's been done by BMW dlrs. And, go get an oil change. GL,mD

Run the key, that's the best place to start.

If youve NEVER purchased a used car, here are some tips.
Regardless of whatever the previous owner or sales person tells you about thei maintenance history, change all fluids: Motor oil/filter, brake fluid, transfercase, differential, transmission fluid (if mileage high), radiator coolant. Check the brake pads and rotors... Open all doors, windows and check for operation and noise... Check for cracks in the door seal gaskets, moisture in the head, tail and signal lamps... Check the tire pressure (add/deflate as needed). Check steering wheel alignment good luck |

Welcome! please do yourself a favor and try to check out the many threads on repairs - fore warned is fore armed
as a 2001 4.4i owner let me warn you history has the water pump going between 60-80,000 miles as the vanes are made of plastic - this is something you really want to replace before it fails - so far OEM is the only replacement (the 3.0 has a very good aftermarket one with stainless steel vanes) Definitely check the history of the car, how many owners?, what's been replaced under warranty?(see previous reply suggestion to visit your BMW dealer), mileage of last oil change?(note: the bar display is based upon your driving, normally 15K miles, my interval is 20K due to lots of interstate driving, most of us do a half way oil change) - control arms & CV boots also seem to need replacement( me, only 1 control arm, boots still ok, 78K) for the a/c, the final stage resistor is a very common failure(had mine fixed right after purchasing the car) - cracked coolant tanks another fairly common maledy(mine replaced by previous owner under warranty) when you find time, we'd all like to know what bells'n'whistles came with your X5 and a picture would be cool Again, welcome! - you are definitely at the right website to find out any questions you may have on your new ride
