H&R spring install today
Well the X5 is in having the H&R springs installed. Actually with the '04 4.4 it's a bit easier than most- just front springs, plus adjustable arms for the rear air suspension to lower it the same as the front. Pics to follow when I get it back.

Are you replacing the shocks as well?
How much of a drop are you anticipating with these H&Rs. Are these the Race or Sports? |

No shocks, just the front srpings and rear level arms. There's only one available spring set for the X5's with rear air suspension- probably a street-sport setup. Supposed to drop 1.2" and only raise the spring rate in front 10%, and about 7-8% in the rear as a result of the airbag doubling over a bit more on itself which has the same effect as increasing the firmness of the airbag.

I was thinking about doing this too! Also a 2004 4.4i sport. I saw one site with the springs for $300. Not sure how much install is? Did you take any before pics to compare? Good luck and I hope you enjoy.

Just go a call from the shop that it's all done. I'm going to try to get it before dark today but at the moment dealing with work meetings and a flooded basement at home.
FYI- got the springs from TireRack (Luke is a great person to work with there and is a big supporter of the Chicago area car clubs) for $280. But I may have gotten the last set they had in stock. So looking forward to seeing how the X looks. Bet I'm going to want more wheel and tire now, though my Style 132 19's should look OK when I get the bigger rear spacers to replace the 10mm H&R's in there now. Anyone know if the Style 214 20's from an E70 will work? Saw a new X with those wheels the other day and they look perfect.

The 214's will work, but you will need to get hub rings, as the E70 is bigger in that regard.
Did TireRack do the install too?

Forgot about the larger center bore. Thanks.
No, had a local shop out here in Glen Ellyn do the install. They do the work on my old 528 and are close by. I'd normally have done it myself but just don't have the time these days.
