Passenger side airbag sensor

Had my mechanic called BMW regarding the passenger side airbag sensor and the mechanic said to me, you don't want that sensor. $1600!!!!

You can't buy just the sensor alone, you have to buy the whole heating kit+ the fact I got sports seats don't help.

Anyone know what the sensor is called or where I can get just the sensor?

You can bypass the passenger occupancy sensor if you are okay with the feature removed. I've done that on my E39.

Otherwise, your sensor or the control module might have to be replaced. You have to remove the seat skin, pads and the sensor.

Whats the disadvantage? I don't really care as long as the light goes out and the airbags work

With a passenger lighter than 70lb , the air bag is disabled.
