Thumbs up Brand new brakes!

I just bought from Ebay a new brake set. It included 4 brembo brakes, Akebono pads and all sensors with some type of lube, for a total of 320.00!!!! I just got them on, and I have to say that my X feels like a total different X. I know cause new brakes are on, but even when I put the oem a year ago, I didn't like the feel. I just want everyone who hasen't done this yet, when brake time comes, do the Brembo and Akebono set up. It is just perfect.

im assuming you are referring to brembo rotors and not full calipers. did you get blanks, cross drilled or slotteD?

glad you are enjoying them.

Brembo

I have a 3.0 diesel here in Australia and I am onto my second set of rotors in 120,000km which I think is crazy. Just wondered if anybody knew whether the diesel set up is the same as the 3.0i as I can get the Brembo set up for less that the cost of set of brake pads through the dealer.

Inspector Gadget,
I have a 2005 Diesel 6 speed manual with 86,000km. The front pads are just about half worn and you can hardly feel a lip on the front discs.

I used this website to answer your question: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do
I entered 2005 3.0L petrol and looked up the pad, discs and caliper part numbers.
I then did the same with 2005 3.0L Diesel and came up with the same part numbers.
So, it would seem that the petrol and diesel (and I expect the small V8) brakes are all the same.
Good Luck
Colin.

No, sorry guy's. They are solid rotors. I didn't do the upgrade. Sorry, I should have explained that in the begining. I don't need that type of stoping power. I'm not racing and for a quick run, these do just fine. Plus I'm not going to have that dust anymore. I got the Brembo Max rotors, Akebono pads, sensors, and the lube for 320.00. Very good price for a full brake job. OEM, way to expensive.

Ebay, the store is called FOP, foreign auto parts. Either way, I could be wrong I don't have the reciept with me, I'm at work. But if you do a search on ebay, like BMW X5 brakes. A bunch of stuff comes up. Scroll down till you see the complete kit for XXX dollars. If not, when I go home I will get the name so that you can find it easier.
