Unhappy "Service Engine Soon" & Inspection Fail

Hi! all

I'v driven for a long time(over 8 months) without any problem
while "service engine soon" light illuminated.
But I have a problem with inspection because of that sign.
There are 3 codes came out,

PO 313 Misfire detected
PO 2096 Bank I Lean
PO 430 ???

I was told that it gonna be $1,000(estimate) for fix and erease it.
Even they don't know exactly whitch parts should be changed so they are
going to replace most part of that related with those codes.
What am I supposed to do???
Mine is 01' X5 3.0

I had the same problem before, dealer told me it was cam shaft sensor. SES went away for 1 day. Check your intake elbow...I just replaced mine and the light went away for a while now. So far so good! Hope it helps.

Is that sensor name 'pulse generator'??
Inspection appointment is scheduled on next Monday at BMW dealer.
I would like to hear thier opinion after they check my X5.
It will be great inspection will be passed as like you saying just
replace that sensor.
Thanks!!

$1K - thats allot...

I live in North East Philly... I have a code reader/reset tool. You might want to reset the codes and drive for several days, see if they come back. Maybe these are some old codes...

-buy a code reader
-reset the lights right before you get inspected
-pass inspection,
-go on your merry way

Had the same codes a couple of months ago. I used a code reader and deleted the codes. So far nothing wrong with the car.

here is a code reader that can do the job

Sounds like your crankcase vent hoses need replacing.

I found strange sound on 'Center Silencer' then after check it,
there is leaking on the part of welded.(so tiny makes little noise)
You guys think SES sign will be fixed if the silencer replaced or
weld pin hold part again?
But I wonder why the end part of those silencer and manifod direction
is different?? One(right-hand side) of two pipes end of silencer shape
is vertical but all of manifold is horizontal when I check.

Manifod

Silencer

Guess why they welded it when they replace silencer.
