I refuse to believe there is no remedy for this...even with Dinan software, it still persists. Perhaps if enough of us sign some sort of petition, BMW will issue some sort of resolve. Not holding my breath though...by the time they're motivated to do anything i may have pulled the trigger.

I didn't know there was Dinan transmission software that could potentially fix it?! The guy who created the lurch website still hasn't had a resolution and he's been chasing the problem a lot longer then we have. So you're right, we're probably SOL.

Hi there, Can the lurch harm the transmission?and as one guy said he had the transmissio replaced and it still did the same albeit less often!!!!!

Just to chime in... I had the same issue come up late last year -- the violent 2 -1 shift from a rolling stop, or even when the car was stopped. It felt like I was hit from behind by a bus. The dealer reflashed the transmission software saying it's a common issue.
Now (4-5 months later), it seems to be back. Not nearly as bad, or it may be that I'm now more careful and watch my takeoffs more closely... Does the hold the gas pedal down for 30 seconds method work?

should i reset my tranny even though i dont have any problems (knock on wood), i just purchased it from another owner and i figure it may shift differently if i reset it.

A reset won't harm the trany...my understanding is that it will re-adjust to your style of driving.

My dealer told me it's pointless because it will adapt to your style within a week or two depending on how much you drive. I think it only makes sense if you're having issues.
