ABS wheel speed sensor.

2001 4.4 X5

I had my friend read the codes at his shop and apperently my rear left Wheel Speed Sensor decided to pack it in. Anyone else have similar experience with one of their wheel speed sensors...

It's kind of odd, it has been parked for about two months and now that I'm driving it again the sensor failed... I didn't have a chance to check the plug or connection, anyone want to add their two cents?

And the cheapest place to source one? $20 range cheap lol.

It could be the ABS module going bad. Is your speedometer working? What about the ABS light?

speedo is out and abs is on, pretty sure it's related to the speed sensor, not sure why the module would just fail though... Well I hope it's not the module!

I've had the same issue with my 5 series. I've replaced the sensor because it was much cheaper if it is the problem. I ended up haveing the ABS module rebuilt by ModuleMaster. Some Bosch ABS modules are known to be failing under heat stress although the ABS problems don't seem to be prevalent with E53s.
