San Antonio. I dont see any stick but lot of autos. I want Stick\blk ext with beige\gray\brown interior. I am not a big fan of blk interior. I dont like those 17wheels which come as standard and am looking around $30K to $33K with around 20K to 25K miles. I know I am asking a lot in used market.

You were ready to haul azz to MD for that first car, so you must
be willing to look beyond SA, even TX, and look around...if you
really want that 6 spd. I'd love to have 6 instead of my 'ol '01
5 spd.

Take your time: there are Xs coming in off lease or on trade in,
truckloads by the day, imo.

Get the full service history and see what issues it's had and how well it's been maintained. Sounds like a nice car. Forget about gas cost and resale value. It's still a great car. My biggest concern is the fact that it was a leased car for ? years. The original owner might have beat the hell out of it during that time, who knows. Get an extended warranty no question IMHO.

This dealer bought this truck in auction in Georgia. He advertised it for $33K (Way above than market) but negotiated on phone to $28K as I live in TX. So if I need to buy this one I am going to pay $28K+$1K for shipping +$2000 for tax and tags=$31K in total. I got this one inspected through my friend who lives in MD but I am planning to go there and inspect the truck myself befor handing over the check. I know all this sound silly butI want a manual X5 and not able to get one in my area.
Please suggest if I can buy and If i can buy this from a private dealer. Do you guys think I will regret with this purchase with gas at $4 and no resale value for SUV's and particularly manual.
If it is a rational decision, you will regret it from a monetary perspective. The x5 is expensive to run and the 2006 (I believe) has the old m52/4 engine (3.0i inline 6 that ran from 2001-2006 for x5s). The manual is great if you're an enthusiast and like rowing the gears but the gear ratios leave something to be desired.

Resale is a huge issue with an x5 with a stick. You need to locate someone basically like yourself as the truck will not appeal to soccer mom drivers (no offense, soccer moms!) so your market is limited. Anybody in the car business knows this as well so they will kill you on the trade-in value for the x5 when it is time for you to move on. Give you an example, I know a 2 owner 2001 x5 stick (normal options) with 80K miles available for $15k (before negotiation) in SD--that is 2-3k lower than other asking prices and this was when gas was $3.70 a gallon.

That said, I drive one and love it. But before I bought it, I knew that I was going to keep it a very long time.

Good luck!

If fuel is an issue for you think $5.00 gasoline. Perhaps that eventually
may give you something to think about.....

The OP isn't considering a Diesel. His choice so far is as he stated a 2006 X5 3.0 Manual.
