I'm ashamed to say that my wife and I are travelling this weekend NOT in the X5. I'm using my piss-poor Ford Taurus company car because I get free gas and don't feel like filling up the X a few times at $65 each time.

Am I crazy?

Not at all. Free gas during a price gouge weekend.... you are not crazy at all. I know you will miss your X though.

It was really amazing to watch the gas price display at the local supermarket the last 3 days. It went from 2.409 to 2.609 for regular 85 octane. I figure 91 octane will be over $3 by this weekend.

Most stations were "out" of dino juice here in our lil'hamlet and most of western NC, yesterday, (Wed).

After chasing the ball, I idled downtown for the papers and the local Exxon had
a "new batch" just delivered. WTF? I thought the pipeline from LA to SC/NC was
shut down? NEway, I copped some Regular for the X at $3.59/gal. It was $2.45 there
a few days ago. The manipulation and lack of any freaking plan by the elected idiots is apparent. I personally will pay whatever the free mkt dictates...but, many people in biz and almost all goods and services will suffer in increased costs, lower margins, less services, etc. As for the our fellow humans in LA, MS, etc., they are on the brink and most have little to look forward to even when the waters finally evaporate sometime next year.
