Got the call from my wife yesterday. She was on the way to work and our clunking driver side window failed completely and would not roll up. But because I am a regular X5 World reader I knew now was not the time to panic or to call a repair shop! I met my wife, handed her the keys to my M5 (eek!) and headed for BMW of Honolulu who soaked me to the tune of $215 for an X5 window regulator (with CCA discount).
90 minutes later I had the door panel off and though it took me a while to un-jam the glass from its track, and despite a second trip to the dealer for the plastic window clips that hold the glass, the X was buttoned back up and the window was operating like new within about 3 hours. The SRS light went on since I had to drive back to the dealer, but I have the Peake reset tool in my aresenal. I had to post a thank you to this website, for without it I would definitely be driving around with a plastic sheet taped to the side of the X while I shop $800 price quotes from independent shops trying to get the window fixed.
This place is tops.
