Question question about brakes

A couple of months ago, I installed front Brembo discs and pads (Axxis deluxe). They work fine but when I brake (and it started happening a few days ago), the steering wheel shakes from one side to the other. Any idea why this may be happening?

01 x3.0

Thanks

Check your tire pressures. If they are all even, you might need to get your wheels balanced.

Or you may have warped the rotors. Can be caused by uneven wheel bolt torque.

torque

This maybe, I don't think it is the balance. The car feels steady at any speed. Only when I brake it does that

Another possibility...You have been driving a little hard...and then hosed your wheel off. The cold water could easily warp your rotors.

On a new vehicle, an owner has a good chance of claiming warranty in a case of warped rotors.

For aftermarket parts, especially if you installed them yourself, it is far less likely. Doesn't hurt to ask (assuming that is the problem...) but don't hold your breath. The parts warranty is for defects in manufacturing, and there are too many things that can cause warped rotors that have nothing to do with the manufacturing process. If you paid to have them installed, then you can try the service warranty, but it depends a lot on what shop did them, and how they see the situation.

brakes

Regular Brembos (solid I guess they are called) and installed by a very good teck. (he works on Porsche / Aston Martin and Rolls Royce), I used him for years and he knows what he is doing.

He mentions that it is a 01 X5...more than likely it is out of warranty...
