Water leaking from the rear left door on X5, 2001

Hi everybody,

I am just wondering if someone has a similar experience as I have. I am getting quite enough water inside the interior to notice that and be not happy with that. It is coming from rear left door. Please let me know if you were able easily fix it.

Thanks in advance.

entire rubber seal around opening on car body may need to be replaced .sometimes the door card requires removing to fix what is known as door membrane, that is a moulded sheet of grey matierial stuck to the door.they usually only ever leak after some person has repaired door actuator or window regulator and failed to re-set membrane properly.temporary solution is to apply silicone rubber cleaning product around rubber seals.

hi, Iforgot to mention , if floor is wet, you should lay sponge on floor, preferably under floor mats if fitted, this should absorb moisture from carpet and speed drying process.

I have the same prob on my 01 4.4. I changed the door molding around the body opening and I changed the weatherstripping that goes on the roof and comes down for each door. I would recommend replacing the doors weatherstripping and see if that is it. The two sections I bought did not solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I believe I found what the problem was. I experimented on how water is getting there by just pouring water on top of the door. The water is coming from the door out of bottom of the interior plastic just above the rubber seal. I disassembled the door and found the water started coming from the rubber seals of the front and back stacks on which window is sliding and then was going through bottom of black isolation rubber to the side of interior plastic. It seems like it is not the best engineering solution on how they make the door. Changing the seals will not help. I just glued very well the black isolation rubber inside the door hoping that water will not be going through. I think it will work for a while.
Thanks

Check your vapor barrier too especially if you've replaced window regulators, it's the foam padding inside the door panel. Make sure you seal it back properly after you take off the panel. Most of the rear leak come from it.

Thanks. It is exactly what I did. I did not know the correct name for this rubber piece.
Thanks.
