spring compressor
I am considering to replace stock sport springs with Eibach for my 2001 4.4i. In search of a decent spring compressor, I found out this from Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MCPHE...spagenameZWDVW Or this from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Clamshell-Stru...521339&sr=1-44 I'd like to hear from you before making a decision. I contacted local indie shops and they ask $380-$480 for installing front springs only. I'd rather buy a decent tool and do it myself. |

You can rent spring compressors at local Autozone shops as well. You just place a deposit for the compressor and when you return it they will refund your deposit (thus no money out of pocket). If you would like to have a reputable shop do it, contact Sonic MotorSport (650-691-9000).

Yea, rent the spring compressor from Autozone. Don't use lowering springs with the stock shocks. If you want the Eibach springs, use something like Bilstein shocks. Plus, since you have an 01, depending on the miles the stock shocks are probably worn out anyway.

I got new Bilstein struts and Eiblach springs for my X5 . I took the new struts and springs to Big-O and they installed the springs for $10 a side , while I waited....

Shox.com has the best prices on Bilstein shocks, and they price match. Pretty sure their price on the springs is competitive as well.
