If you're thinking of using Mobil 1 15w-50, I'll recommend it. Why? I use it in ALL cars. That includes an M3, X5 XC90, 318ti, Land Rover and a Volvo 240. Did I mention the 240 has well over 300k miles? Looking under the valve cover shows an engine which looks almost new. Use it and don't worry about anything. As for mileage, I have tried lighter weight oils (Mobile 1 0w-40) for about 10k miles in my X5 and, according to my guage, I did not notice a difference in fuel economy.

go for 5-40W, Mobile1 has synthetic oil motor oil that's suitable for gasoline and diesel, while the motor oil is specifically made for SUV too~ I just changed my oil and the bottle said it's good for diesel and gasoline~ if you want a picture of the oil~ just pm me and I will send you one~

Oil change is similar to 3.0i,just follow the basic principles.Eddie ,DONT use 0W-40,this oil is too thin and your Turbo will blow it back into the inlet manifold. This oil will greatly increase your oil consumption!Sick with the 5W-50!..........

It is advantageous but not imperative to pour 1ltr of oil in the oil filter! But I suggest you do it,but make sure that you dont over fill the oil filter because the 3.0D is smaller than the 3.0i and it will take less than 1 ltr!
