Pulled BT Module and Have Q

Does this need to be coded or is this module just assist?

no, you have a combo BMW assist and bluetooth module, if you had a purely BMW assist module, it would not have the PK (thats how mine came, and I had to retrofit it to having the combo module).

Also, if you have BMW assist, you do have a microphone, no need to pull out the mic. Is your phone in pairing mode when you are trying to do this? Does it search and find anything?

Phone is in pairing mode...Noth My Motorola Q and my Wife's Moto Razr (on the BMW list) do not find anything.

I also do not see activate phone on either the insturment panel or on the radio.

Also, I do have the BT antenna in the same space as the module...It is hooked up the sam way that I have seen on this forum.

do you have nav? or the regular radio? the pairing may be different as the instructions I am giving work for NAV cars

also, try these instructions, I used the face button on mine, but it is saying to try using the r/t button..

1. Enable Bluetooth on your phone (this is phone-specific)





2. Press the R/T button on the steering wheel. The vehicle will

ask you for the Bluetooth passkey. Enter the passkey that is located on the
white laminated sheet that came with your BMW. (note: it should also be
located on the Assist/Bluetooth module as well)



3. The phone will pair with the vehicle and you will get the following
message displayed on the phone: "BMWXXXX" (BMW & the last 5 digits of your VIN).




Pairing is a one-time activity, so after this the phone will automatically

pair and update the address book every time you enter the vehicle. There
is a maximum of 4 devices that can be paired with the BMW Bluetooth ULF.
After a fifth device is paired it will bump off the first one paired (FIFO).

I have 2006 X5 and I also fount BT module at the back of the vehicle. So I have the Passkey (PK), which is necessary for paring phone with BT in the car. If your X5 has MID with Telephone button on the right of MID, the pairing is quite easy. Switch on the key, you will find that next to telephone button, there is three LEDs, the upper most LED stay red, that means no connection.

Now, you press on the left of the Telephone button (on the telephone symbol), the display on MID will say: Please Wait............ Now, you turn on BT of your phone and start searching for new BT device. The phone will find BMWXXXXX, which is BT device of the X5. On the phone, you select that device, it will ask for Passkey, then you enter 1049 and after a while, it will conect. You will have to wait for several minutes before the red LED goes off. Then the phone is ready for use.

Sorry...Waht is MID with telephone button?

MID = Multi Information Daiplsy.

I did some poking around with my X today. I too, have the same exact unit as you do. I disconnected it, reconnected, and it still will not go into any type of pairing mode. I'm thinking my unit is defective.

My friend has the same PK code thing on his old assist module and it would not work for normal phones, only the assist would come up... anyway he purchased a 13th gen ulf and we rigged up the pairing button .... it works great..... I'm fairly confident that unless you have a pairing button you will not be able to pair it to an assist module...combo or not... Don't take my word for it... call the dealer.
