Anyone have 20x10.5 all around?

Hi

I just got 20x10.5 wheels all around and my car shakes at anything over 40 mph. I didn't have any shaking before i installed the 20's. Does anyone here have this setup with no problems? Or did I just make a big mistake and should go with 9.5 in front? Please help I think i just wasted some money.

Are they replicas? If so, what is the hub diameter? You may need hub centric rings.

Yes they are replicas. I had them balanced at 2 different tire shops. Both shops checked for dings/bends in the wheel. Hubcentric rings? Do you guys think that mite be the cause? I called discounttire and they said anything over 9.5 for my car was too much. But I want more sources. So is it really too wide? I really want to keep this setup i love the look. Please give me adice?

The E53 X5 has a hub size of 72.56, whereas a number of replica rims have a hub size of 74.1. So if your replicas in fact have the 74.1 hub size and you are not using hub centric rings then there is a very good chance that is causing your vibrations. Without the rings you are counting on the lugs to center the rim, and even the slightest deviation will show up as a vibration at higher speeds.

Hub centric rings are very cheap, so you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

I bet it looks cool, but I think that might be a little too wide for the front. You might see lower gas milage too.

I had 22x10.5 for my fronts a while back and the steering was horrible on less than perfect roads. My steering wheel would jerk as the wheels wanted to follow the grooves of the road.

That can also be a function of the tires. I had 19" Michelin Diamaris that did that exact same thing. My 20" Dunlops are sooooooo much better, even though they are wider.
